The average European is responsible for about 11 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per year, of which almost 9 tonnes are emissions of CO2.

We all consume energy produced from carbon-rich fossil fuels to heat and light our homes and run our electrical appliances. Most of us use petrol and diesel made from fossil fuels to run our cars, and buy products whose manufacturing requires energy. So much of what we do in our lives causes greenhouse gas emissions.
